Mid-Wales Trail Days 3-5
Tuesday: Wind through the foothills of the Black Mountains, enjoying long canters on the open commons, arriving in the small and picturesque market town of Hay-on-Wye, famous for its second-hand bookstores. After settling our horses in their field for the night, we stay in a beautiful historic pub, combining old-world charm with modern-day comforts.
Wednesday: Today we climb up out of the Wye Valley, and up onto the Offa’s Dyke Path, high on the border of Wales and England. After crossing the open commons, we follow the magical Llanthony Valley down, with its serene beauty and captivating views, to arrive at our next destination, the village of Llanvihangel Tal-y-Llyn (we’ll teach you how to say it!), enjoying dinner at the oldest pub in Wales, and staying in a wonderfully hospitable bed and breakfast.
Thursday: We follow the ‘Golden Horseshoe’ of the stunning Black Mountains along ridges and valleys, mile after mile of undulating hills with fantastic views, before dropping back down to the farm where well-earned tea & cake await. It will feel like coming home, after the adventures of the last three days. A final dinner, a good night’s sleep, and then time after breakfast to say goodbye to new friends both human and horse.
