WE ARE SITUATED 17 MILES FROM ABERGAVENNY, AND 7 MILES FROM BRECON AND HAY-ON-WYE, 1.5 HOURS FROM THE SEVERN BRIDGE, 3.5 HOURS DRIVE OR TRAIN RIDE FROM LONDON, AND 2 HOURS FROM BIRMINGHAM. BY RAIL
The nearest station is Abergavenny. From London Paddington, via Newport, the journey can be as short as 2 hrs 20 minutes. See www.nationalrail.co.uk for timetables and fares. We are a short taxi ride away from the station – 30 mins, £45 – and when you book, we will give you a phone number for a friendly taxi driver!
BY BUS
National Express coaches offer a comfortable and speedy journey up the motorway from Heathrow Airport (and other airports) to Chepstow, where we can arrange a transfer to the farm. The coach trip takes 2 hours, and the drive from Chepstow is a further hour. The coach ticket currently costs £39.70 return, and the transfer is £90. If you haven’t been to us before, you will need to spend a moment researching our location.
USE GOOGLE MAPS: By far the easiest way to find us is to put ‘Trans Wales Trails’ into Google or CLICK HERE: and ask for directions (top left of the google maps page).
DO NOT USE OUR POSTCODE: Unhelpfully, our postcode will not bring you here. The postcode covers around ten properties, and is usually centered on the farm above us, but some sat nav systems show it as a spot on the A479 which is still ten minutes drive from us. Google maps knows where we are and will bring you here.

Directions from Talgarth are here:
- From Talgarth town centre, with your back to the Co-op, and The Mill (large wrought-iron gates) ahead of you, turn right over the stone bridge.
- You’ll see a big white pub on your left called the Bridge End Inn – turn left immediately after the pub, up Bell Street.
- Drive up Bell Street, after 100 yards or so passing the Strand Cafe on your right, and after another couple of hundred yards, you’ll go over another smaller stone bridge.
- After the bridge, turn almost immediately right. It’s easy to miss this turning! There is actually a sign but it’s buried in a grass verge. You’ll know you are on the right lane if there is a hedge on your left, and lots of different types of houses on your right for about a quarter of a mile. As the houses begin to run out, you’ll go across a VERY NARROW stone bridge and then up a steep hill.
- Drive up the lane for approx 1 mile – it is narrow and very steep for the first part. We are the second farm drive on your right, signposted Blaenau Bach.

If you are at all worried about your ability to find us, then just call us from Talgarth village centre, or the carpark at Dragon’s Back pub in Pengenfford (depending on which direction you are coming from), 07889 118464 (Paul) or 07855 967399 (Emily), and we can talk you in. It only takes about 5 minutes from either of those spots.
Whichever direction you approach from, either off the A479 or from Talgarth, the last part of your journey here will be a tiny narrow lane – so don’t think you have gone wrong just because it no longer feels like a proper ‘road’!

Please park in the car park which is just off the drive to the right, before you reach the house (it is signed CAR PARK). Come and find us on the yard – just follow your nose, you can’t miss it!
